About Our Services

Management of Government and Parastatal Facilities The key areas of services are status quo reports.

Assessment of emergency repairs from a health and safety requirement and compliance of regulations to immediately minimize risk.

Repair work to optimize functionality and efficiency.

Planned maintenance to minimize down time and major equipment failures.

PMC Consulting cc offers a packaged consulting service specialising in building services management to clients for all types of buildings – residential, commercial, industrial, communal and government infrastructure.

Having built a good relationship with the Department of Public Works, PMC Consulting cc plans to expand it’s market to include other services and professional joint ventures especially in the public sector.

The key to successful facilities management is to maximize life cycle use and reduce capital expenditure.

Project Management

Our director, Jameel Peer, makes sure that all projects are run according to the project management plan and that all 9 steps are applied:
  • Integration — The initiation with the client, users, local authorities, regulators, public and professionals.
  • Scope — Defining the clients requirements, product, usage and satisfaction to the end user.
  • Time — Implementation of a project programme. Execution of project within the time line, critical paths and co-ordinating with the people and resources according to the project management plan.
  • Cost — Control of costs within the budget at all stages of the project.
  • Quality — Compliance to regulations, industry and international standards.
  • Human Resource — Define all areas of functionality and expertise required for the execution of the project.
  • Communication — Establishing the lines of communication and reporting structure.
  • Risk — Minimise risk , compliances to regulations and occupational health and safety.
  • Procurement — Acquiring of the necessary materials, skills and resources in completing the project.

Consisting of : Building related services, HVAC, fire, lifts, rational fire design, FM200, electrical reticulation & distribution, lighting, security and access.

The engineering industry is in a growth phase, which is likely to continue for a number of years, beyond 2010.

It is controlled by the South African Association of Consulting Engineers, (SAACE).

All our engineers on the PMC staff are professionally registered, very skilled and have several years experience in the industry.

Abdus Peer — holds a diploma in mechanical engineering and Pr Eng Tech from ECSA with 30 years experience in the engineering field.

  • Occupational health and safety environments
  • Compliance to construction regulations
  • Health and safety inspections and reports
  • Prevention of injury and health risks
  • The inspections check whether the conditions of every worker ‘s health and safety is met and complies with the law.
  • Our certified inspectors have a comprehensive understanding of the law as well as the application to the working environment.
  • Health and safety inspections of the surrounding environment, check if it is kept up to standard, identifying hazards, checking equipment safety, recommending improvements at follow up meetings, incident reports and taking preventative measures.
  • Compliance to specific user safety and hazard environments.

Heating, ventilation and air conditioning ( HVAC ) systems help to control the climate, and keep occupants comfortable by regulating the temperature and air flow. HVAC is an acronym that stands for the closely related functions of ” Heating , Ventilating , and Air Conditioning ” – the technology of indoor or automotive environmental comfort.

HVAC system design is a major subdiscipline of mechanical engineering , based on the principles of thermodynamics , fluid mechanics , and heat transfer . Refrigeration is sometimes added to the field’s abbreviation as HVAC&R or HVACR, or ventilating is dropped as in HACR (such as the designation of HACR-rated circuit breakers ).

HVAC is particularly important in the design of medium to large industrial and office buildings such as skyscrapers and in marine environments such as aquariums , where safe and healthy building conditions are regulated with temperature and humidity, as well as “fresh air” from outdoors.

Fire is the rapid oxidation of a material in the chemical process of combustion, releasing heat , light , and various reaction products . Fire in its most common form can result inconflagration, which has the potential to cause physical damage through burning . Fire is an important process that affects ecological systems across the globe.

The positive effects of fire include stimulating growth and maintaining various ecological systems.

Fire has been used by humans for cooking, generating heat, signaling, and propulsion purposes.

The negative effects of fire include decreased water purity, increased soil erosion, increase in atmospheric pollutants, and an increased hazard to human life.

Elevator or lift is a vertical transport vehicle that efficiently moves people or goods between floors of a building. They are generally powered by electric motors that either drive traction cables and counterweight systems, or pump hydraulic fluid to raise a cylindrical piston.

Rational fire design

Rational Designs are carried out to determine and apply the correct safety standards and conditions, to reduce the risk of fire and minimise the effect of an incident should one occur.

These Rational Designs are to ensure that both the developer and the owner are protected, and that all safety standards required are met.

Rational Designs are carried out in all sectors ie. Residential, Commercial and Industrial developments.

Building related services

Structural engineers specialize in the design of buildings, including residential housing.

Whenever there are modifications or repairs done to existing construction, or framing for additional space, a structural engineer will be part of the picture.

Their services also are needed for altering roof structures, such as adding trusses.

FM-200® is a colourless, liquified compressed gas. It is stored as a liquid and dispensed into the hazard as a colourless, eclectrically non-conductive vapour that is clear and does not obscure vision.

It leaves no residue and has acceptable toxicity for use in occupied spaces at design concentration.

FM-200® does not displace oxygen and therefore is safer for use in occupied spaces without fear of oxygen deprivation FM-200® fire suppressant stops fires fast. When you consider the potentially devastating environmental effects of an uncontrolled fire, it’s easy to see that an FM-200® system is an important part of an environmentally responsible fire suppression solution.

Lighting or illumination is the deliberate application of light to achieve some aesthetic or practical effect.

Lighting includes use of both artificial light sources such as lamps and natural illumination of interiors from daylight. The equipment used to provide illumination.

Electrical reticulation and distribution

To form a net or network. a reticulated formation, arrangement, or appearance.

network; the act of distributing or spreading or apportioning the commercial activity of transporting and selling goods from a producer to a consumer.

Circuitry involving high-voltage switchgear, step-down transformers, voltage dividers, and related equipment used to receive high-voltage electricity from a primary source and redistribute it at lower voltages.

Also known as electric distribution system.

Systems that comprise those parts of an electric power system between the subtransmission system and the consumers’ service switches. It includes distribution substations; primary distribution feeders; distribution transformers; secondary circuits; including the services to the consumer; and appropriate protective and control devices. Sometimes, the subtransmission system is also included in the definition.
